It is Adam’s first day at madrassa but he is feeling nervous as he doesn’t know anyone there. Adam doesn’t want to go inside but his sister Fatima is able to convince him to go in to the madrassa. What will Adam think of the madrassa? Join Adam on his first day to find out if he enjoys it.

This is a beautifully illustrated picture book, perfect for a bedtime read with your little ones to encourage discussion on Islamic principles, the steps of wudu and introducing the concept of a mosque. Suitable for children between 3 and 6 years.

Adam was very excited about answering the question, “We start everything with bismillah.”
– Adam’s First Day at Madrassa, Iqrah Razzaq

Adam’s First Day at Madrassa by Iqrah Razzaq is a simple book based on the steps of wudu.

This was one of those books that I had a tough time reviewing. I was caught between loving the book for its clean and clear informative storyline, and being put-off by the pixelated and fuzzy illustration that were there in most places. In some places, the illustrations had discrepancies, and in other places, the placement of the elements were off.

I understand the author would have had valid reasons for not having hired a professional illustrator for her book. Yet, this only shows the importance and significance of investing in an illustrator to produce a qualitative children’s book.

That said, these are the thoughts of me, as a parent. However, when I had read it to my children and my Grade 2 Fiqh students, they loved every bit of the read aloud. They loved the story, the concept, and the illustrations despite the fact they were not done professionally.

If you are looking for a supplementary reading for the steps of wudu for children aged 4-7, this would be a good fit, bi-idhnillah.

I pray the author looks into my review with a positive attitude and hope it is beneficial for her.
